We operate the GitLab instance as a production service: monitoring, backups, updates, incident handling, and platform operations. You own the GitLab configuration and day-to-day usage.

In which data center is the GitLab hosting operated?

We host the instances in our b'nerd Public Cloud on our own hardware in Germany (Munich).

Is the instance dedicated or shared?

Each customer gets an isolated GitLab instance. Depending on tier, parts of the underlying infrastructure may be shared or dedicated (e.g. resources, networking, HA setup).

Is b'nerd ISO 27001 certified?

Yes. We and our data center partners are ISO 27001 certified.

Which GitLab edition/version do you run?

We operate GitLab Community Edition (CE) or GitLab Enterprise Edition (Premium/Ultimate licenses). Updates are performed in defined maintenance windows; security fixes follow the agreed patch policy.

Where is the b'nerd company located?

Our company is based in Hamburg, Germany.

Who has admin access to the instance?

You control user and admin permissions inside GitLab. Operational access by b'nerd is restricted to what is necessary for service operation and troubleshooting, and follows documented processes.

Can you restrict access (IP allowlists / VPN)?

Yes. Depending on your tier, we can implement network restrictions such as IP allowlists and private connectivity options.

Can we migrate an existing GitLab instance to you?

Yes. We handle the migration actively — planning, test migrations where needed, and a controlled cutover. Before the final migration we update your instance to the latest version.

What is included in a migration?

We plan the target setup, perform test migrations where needed, and execute a controlled cutover. Scope can include projects, groups, users, runners, and data transfer — depending on your source system and constraints.

How much downtime should we expect?

Downtime depends on data volume and source setup. We aim for a predictable maintenance window for the final cutover and clarify expectations during planning.

Can we export our data and leave at any time?

Yes. We support structured offboarding: exports/backups, a handover window, and deletion of the instance after confirmation. Details depend on data volume and tier.

How and how often do you perform backups?

We create daily encrypted backups for all tiers and store them off-site in Germany. The unified retention baseline is 30 days, verified automatically. Contact support if you need to restore a backup.

What are the backup retention and restore objectives (RPO/RTO)?

All tiers share a 30-day retention baseline with daily backups, giving an RPO of 24 hours or less. Stricter RPO/RTO targets or additional restore testing are defined via your service level or an individual agreement.

We would like to store backups at another location. Is this possible?

Yes. We store backups on our S3-compatible object storage and can grant you access to retrieve them yourself. This is included in all tiers. Other backup solutions (push/pull) are possible — reach out to us.

What happens if we exceed the included backup storage?

We notify you before you exceed the included baseline. Additional backup storage above the baseline is billed usage-based per GB/month — no hard cutoff, no surprise suspension.

We need more storage. Can additional storage be added?

Yes, additional storage can be added to any package in increments of 100 GB. Contact us or see the pricing table for current rates.

What is the contract duration?

With monthly payment, the contract duration is one month. With annual payment in advance (including 15% discount), the contract duration is one year.

Is it possible to change packages at a later date?

Yes, upgrades and downgrades are possible at any time. For downgrades we check first that the move is feasible (e.g. available storage).

Do you provide a DPA / GDPR agreement?

Yes. For business customers we provide the contractual documents typically required for GDPR, including a data processing agreement where applicable.

What payment methods do you offer?

Payments can be made by direct debit, credit card, or invoice.

If you do not order the instance after the trial, we will delete it along with all data.
